BRANDEIS CREW MEMBER WINS EXPLORER 24 AT WINTECH'S 2007 HOCR RAFFLE
November 1, 2007
Dan Perl, a premed student and crew member at Brandeis University, won an Explorer 24 single at the special raffle held by WinTech Racing at the 2007 Head of the Charles Regatta. In the crowd that gathered for the Sunday drawing at 12 noon, his fellow crew members shrieked with excitement when Dan's name was selected from the raffle drum. Brendan Crotty, WinTech Racing's National Sales Director, contacted the surprised Dan via cellphone. He quickly joined his teammates to view the boat and with their help transported the shell later that afternoon to the Brandeis University base at Lasell/Cygnet Boathouse on the Charles. Designed for a smooth, fast row by the legendary Klaus Filter, the Explorer 24's higher stern and bow decks and revolutionary self-bailing cockpit allows the boat to handle the rougher conditions of open water rowing. The shell is equipped with the new Quick Release Wing Riggers, a 3-way height adjustable seat frame and a hydro-dynamically shaped, removable fin.
